Knowing What Causes Swollen Gums And Preventing Gum Disease
Swollen gums, gum disease and receding gums can all be prevented if proper oral care is exercised in the home. What causes the swollen gums the infection of the gingiva which is being caused by plaque. Plaque are formed from bacteria from food particles left in the mouth. The infection of the gingiva causes the gums to bleed. While bleeding or swollen gums is an early indicator of gingivitis, or swollen gums, they may sometimes occur from vigorous brushing.
Increased level or fluctuation of hormones during, puberty and pregnancy can cause gums to swell. Medical conditions may also trigger gums to swell conditions includes vitamin C deficiency, leukemia, tumors and others. Medications may cause gums to swell as a side effect.
Removal of plaque is the effective way of preventing swollen gums. Superior oral hygiene is the answer brushing and flossing re the simplest and effective way to superior oral hygiene.
